    The club was founded in 1939 by members of Sydney’s Jewish community as Sydney Hakoah.

    The club entered the inaugural National Soccer League season under this name in 1977.

    Hakoah competed as Sydney City from 1978 and won the one-off Oceania Cup Winners’ Cup under that name in 1987.
