The Austrian Super Cup was played from 1986 to 2004 as the season opener between the league champions and cup winners and was credited to the preceding campaign. When one club won the double, the cup runners-up took part. The 2005 match was cancelled because of scheduling problems and an All-Star match replaced it in 2006. The 2008 match between Rapid Wien and Amateur Cup winners SV Horn was unofficial and is not part of the official title lineage.
