The Emperor's Cup is Japan's nationwide open main cup. It began in 1921 as the National Association Football Tournament. The FA Silver Cup prompted the foundation of the association and was awarded until its wartime requisition. The Emperor's Cup has been awarded to the winner since 1951, with a new cup presented in 1966. Cancelled editions and the shared 1964 title are recorded explicitly.
