African club competition played from 1992 through 2003, originally intended mainly for league runners-up. The challenge trophy named after Moshood Abiola was retained permanently by JS Kabylie after a third consecutive victory in 2002. In 2004 the competition merged with the Cup Winners’ Cup to form the CAF Confederation Cup.
