The official German Super Cup was staged as the DFB-Supercup from 1987 to 1996. After the interruption from 1997 to 2009, it returned as the DFL-Supercup in 2010 and has been named the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup since 2025. In 1991, German reunification led to a unique four-team tournament with two semi-finals and a final. The matches played in 1941, 1977, 1983, 2008 and 2009 were predecessors or unofficial editions and do not belong to the official title line.
