The Taça de Ouro da Imprensa, organised by the Casa da Imprensa, was a separate one-off Super Cup forerunner. Benfica defeated Sporting CP 5–0 at the Estádio do Restelo on March 29, 1964. Contemporary accounts describe a trophy comprising one kilogram of gold mounted on two kilograms of marble. The win is not counted as a Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira title.
