The DFV-Supercup, also known as the Deutsches Sportecho Cup or Sportecho Super Cup, matched the East German champion against the FDGB-Pokal winner. It was played only in 1989. A contemplated 1988 edition was dropped after BFC Dynamo won the double, and no further East German edition followed the transition to the NOFV.
