The Season's Cup was a Soviet super cup initiated by the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda and contested by the league champions and cup winners. Seven editions were played in 1977, 1981, from 1984 through 1987, and in 1989; the scheduled 1988 match was cancelled. The crystal trophy originally carried a crimson ball. After it broke in 1985, a white ball from an award belonging to Lev Yashin was installed.
