The nationwide 1940 cup for physical culture collectives was the precursor to the Soviet Amateur Cup organised from 1957. Dinamo Alma-Ata won the replay against Zenit Taganrog 3-1 after a goalless first final. The edition is not counted as the first official edition of the later title lineage.
